Balgowan is a small coastal town on the western side of South Australia's Yorke Peninsula. It is located approximately 20 Kilometres (12 miles) west of Maitland. (Turn off the Moonta to Maitland main road.) Like other tourist towns on this peninsula, it has a large number of shacks and holiday houses, as well as caravan facilities and a boat ramp. The population generally increases during peak holiday periods.
Balgowan's only shop is a general store. The Store is now closed (as at August 2011)
Shakyaboatie can be found in this great little town - it is the shack with the really good looking fence.
